Chapter 7: “Satan’s Nefarious Plan to Destroy Young Black Men!”
- And one of the main reasons many kids have stopped going to church is their parents and grandparents’ hypocrisy. How can a person think that they are displaying the image of God on this earth while speaking in a negative manner concerning another ethnic group? Yes, ethnic group, not race. The idea of multiple races is emphatically wrong; there is one race, the human race, with 4, only 4, ethnic groups.
The question and point I would like to make in this chapter, as it pertains to spiritual parenting, is, “How do generational iniquities apply to racism within the American Church? And how have generational sins affected young black men?”
Marilyn and I are blessed with some amazing spiritual sons, and several of them are young black men. For the most part, their deliverances from demonic torment were much more violent, labor-intensive, and extreme. During these deliverances, I’ve been attacked upwards of 40 times but never hurt, growled at, spoken to in demonic tongues, had what sounded like an old Hattian man talk to me, watched blood being coughed up, seen a fella slither on the ground like a snake, and one fella even coughed up an insect. I know some folks reading this will say these stories are embellished or psychosomatic experiences of weak-minded individuals. But these are incredibly intelligent, educated, generous, respectful, polite, and disciplined young men who came from what the world would say: good families. The holiness these fellas have demonstrated since their deliverances is evidence of the validity of their supernatural encounters.
As I begin this chapter, a 57-year-old white fella, I write it with a unique perspective. We live in a time where controversy over ideologies like Critical Race Theory, Systematic Racism, DEI Hiring, and other divisive ideas separates not just this nation but much of the American church. I was raised in the 70s at the back end of the Civil Rights movement. However, I was sheltered from thinking that my lighter shade of skin somehow made me better than or less than anyone, and I’m grateful for this. Racism in no way is just a color thing; it is a pride thing. And pride is the very basis of all sin.
Some folks would surmise that I would have the right to be racist; my little brother was murdered in cold blood by three young black men. If you read “The Un-Addicted,” I talk about the root of my little brother’s struggles and what eventually led him to the path that cost him his life. If you haven’t read “The Un-Addicted,” do so. “ROB Hell” will make a lot more sense.
I’ll never forget his murder trial. I had to load myself down with Xanax to not go crazy in the courtroom. His lawyer was a fella well known for getting gang bangers, drug dealers, and murderers off. During the trial, I found myself in the elevator with this lawyer. I asked him, “How do you sleep at night knowing you are defending the men guilty of murdering my brother?” He was, to say the least, alarmed that he had found himself in a three-by-two metal box with the big brother of his client’s victim. I wanted to hurt the lawyer, but ultimately, he was upholding his client’s constitutional rights.
Some folks allow such tragedy to build generational hate. Racially speaking, this is evident across people groups, from one neighborhood to the next, and from one gang to the next. At its core, racism often arises from our tendency to seek an enemy to blame, which allows us to justify our unforgiveness, jealousy, hate, and bitterness.
Initially, I blamed my little brother for buying dope in a bad neighborhood at 3 am. It’s so easy to get caught up in blaming folks for where we find ourselves. But was it really his fault, or was it the fault of our great uncle and our pastor’s son, who molested and raped him as a child? Was it our parents’ fault for not protecting us better or for not taking us to counseling after my great-uncle, Uncle Sam, was exposed for molesting us? Maybe we can blame it on my grandfather, my dad’s dad. He had some kind of mental illness and wasn’t there much for my dad. We can go on and on, looking for someone to blame, and, generationally, there is always plenty of blame to go around. However, ultimately, everyone is responsible for their own decisions. And if we want to heal and grow through and past the pain and trauma, we must process our choices through the light of God’s Word.
We clearly see biblical examples of sin patterns passed from one generation to the next. Abraham lied about Sarah’s identity, and Abraham’s son and grandson did the same. David struggled with sexual sin, and we see his entire family plagued with the same proclivity toward that sin and the consequences of that sin. Empirically speaking, absolutely no biblical faith is required; we see children following similar sin patterns as their parents, grandparents, and even their great-grandparents. Addicts produce addicts; racist folks produce racist folks, and so on.
Exodus 20 and various other passages tell us that the “sins of the fathers” will affect the next three to four generations. Biblically, there are differing views on what constitutes a generation. Is it one hundred years, sixty years, or forty years? Let’s look at the lesser period, forty years. What was happening 160 years ago that could have such a detrimental impact on young black men today? What generational sins, sins committed by the fathers, as well as sins committed against the fathers, could have opened them up to demonic influence?
Reese
Maurice “Reese” Davis was playing football at Birmingham Southern as a defensive back when he reached out for help. He had recently surrendered his life to the Lord, and all hell had broken loose against him. As long as he was unsaved, he was no threat to the enemy. Darkness could just let sin run its course.
Reese was experiencing extreme shoulder and chest pain to the point that he wasn’t able to practice or play football. He was being visited by demons in his dorm room and was frequently attacked by them. They would appear as large shadow figures and hover over him. Reese has an enormous calling on his life, and the enemy knows the impact he will have for the Kingdom of God. And darkness was determined to take him out before he could walk into his Kingdom purpose.
Reese had found us on Isaiah Salvador’s National Deliverance Map and reached out as the Holy Spirit directed him. He and I texted back and forth for around a month before he finally made it to church. I could tell he was a little taken aback by our small country church across the road from all the donkeys and goats. I believe we had only two other young black men attending that night out of at least 100 folks. We also had guests that night —elders from our church network —but I was hip-to-hip with Reese. I knew the Holy Spirit had sent him, and I was determined to uncover the source of the demonic torment.
During one of the earliest deliverances with Reese, several of the men had to drag him up front as the demons manifested. The demon screamed, “No, not the pastor, No, not the Pastor!” The demons through Reese would attack me over and over again for months, growling, coughing up blood, speaking to us in a voice that was not his own. It was like an old African man or someone from the Caribbean speaking. During these multiple encounters with the Holy Spirit, the Light of God was exposing demons hiding behind the feelings of abandonment, rejection, lies, and false identity that Reese had come into agreement with.
It was at one of our many Un-Addicted Revivals that the strongman, the powerful ranking demon, would manifest, and Reese would finally be free. Maliq and Reese both manifested at this Revival. They ran out of the church, slinging chairs all over the place as these demons took over. They both eventually returned to the church, and the intense warfare continued. The Kingdom of God was suffering violence, and it was time to go to war violently on their behalf.
As they both lay on the floor, almost face to face, soaking wet from sweating profusely, I had a vision of Reese at the bottom of a slave ship, chained and shackled. Joshua Smith, our associate pastor, also got a Word from the Lord. Reese struggled with Darwin’s idea that we evolved from monkeys and that black folks were a subspecies.
Darwin’s unprovable theory is taught as fact. And history shows us that Darwin was one of the most racist figures we have in history. His demonic ideology fueled hate, condoned the slave trade, and birthed Margaret Sanger’s eugenics, known as Planned Parenthood, today.
Here are a few of her most infamous quotes.
“On the other hand, the mass of ignorant Negroes still breed carelessly and disastrously, so that the increase among Negroes, even more than the increase among whites, is from that part of the population least intelligent and fit, and least able to rear their children properly.” – From Sanger’s Birth Control Review.
“We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.” – Letter from Margaret Sanger to Dr. C.J. Gamble, December 10th, 1939
After Reese’s several-hour encounter with the Holy Spirit, he could barely walk and had to be helped to our car and taken to our house for the night. There is no way to explain precisely how wet these young men were from the Fire of God that had fallen on them.
One of the many things the demons told us during Reese’s deliverances was that they had been in the family’s bloodline for generations. Of course, demons will lie; they’ll try to confuse you, they will tell partial truths to throw you off, so everything must be supported by the standard of God’s Word.
During these deliverance sessions, Reese would physically attack me, growling, screaming, coughing violently, and even coughing up blood. This occurred approximately 8 times over about 6 months. Each time, I believe the Fire of the Holy Spirit exposed the lies of darkness, purged, cleansed, and delivered this young man from multiple demons.
It didn’t take me long to notice that the demons that were tormenting the young black men were more intense, stubborn, and violent. So, for the past few years, I’ve been reading and studying to understand the differences among these manifestations.
Exodus 20:4-6 (NASB) “You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath, or in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not worship them nor serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, inflicting the punishment of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing favor to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
KJV – visiting the iniquity of the fathers…
As we discussed in great detail in the previous chapter, there are regional heavenly princes (principalities) assigned to specific geographic locations—nations. We also see that we are called to preach to the nations, the Greek word is ethnos, where we get our English word ethnic.
Heavenly beings have personalities, and according to Matthew, in the 12th chapter, some are more wicked than others. I believe they specialize in particular sins, such as greed, sexual immorality, hate, anger, gluttony, witchcraft, murder, addiction, etc. Examining the diverse issues across our nation, it’s clear how specific areas collectively struggle with particular sins. We can also see that the same idea applies to ethnic groups.
West African Pagan Religions, Voodoo, Santeria, and Hoodoo
Deuteronomy 32:8 (ESV) When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind, he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God.
At the Tower of Babel, God divorced all but one nation. He allotted all but the nation of Israel to the sons of God – ben ha-elohim. These little “g” gods, watchers, the pantheon, are what we see in scripture as principalities – ruling heavenly princes appointed by the Lord God Almighty over particular regions.
These heavenly princes, endowed with free will, chose to rebel and be worshipped by the people inhabiting the regions they were appointed to govern spiritually. Polytheism emerged, and the gods of this world, such as Baal, Molech, Dagon, Thor, Isis, Osiris, Asherah, and several others, became the gods of all the nations except Israel. This was part of the judgment of the Lord God Sabaoth (Host, Heaven’s Armies) for their rebellion.
In the book of Ruth, we see her being instructed to return to her land, people, and her gods. – Ruth 1:15
If we read the Bible as a Jew would have 2,000 years ago, we would see the dividing line between the worship of a little “g” god (principality, angel, or ben ha-elohim) and the followers of Christ’s worship of the one and true God, the Lord God Almighty.
Monotheism is the worship of Yahweh alone. It is found only in the Christian and Hebrew Faiths. Some have concluded that Muslims are monotheistic, but Islam was born in polytheism and is very much a false religion, an anti-True “Christ” religion. All other world religions are polytheistic, believing in a pantheon ranking little “g” gods, which we, as followers of Christ, recognize as principalities.
In 2nd Corinthians 4:4, we see Satan referred to as the little “g” god of the world. Satan is the ranking general of the fallen principalities that currently rule the kingdoms and nations (ethnic groups) of this world. What’s the conclusion? All other world religions outside of Judaism and being a follower of Christ are paganism, the worship of Satan. Satan doesn’t care who you worship as long as you don’t worship the true God by way of Jesus, and worship Him alone.
Matthew 24:9 (NASB) “Then they will hand you over to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name.
Matthew 24:14 (NASB) This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.
As we have already mentioned, when we see the word “nations” in Greek, it is to be understood that the passage is speaking of ethnic groups. All ethnic groups other than the Hebrews are collectively referred to as Gentiles. However, under the main category of gentile, we see multiple subcategories based on geographic location. Suppose we base our worldview on the understanding that Genesis is an accurate account of actual world history. In that case, we see that the Lord disinherited the nations, allotting to them little “g” gods (the pantheon, the sons of God, the ben-elohim) to rule over them.
Daniel 10:10-14 (NASB) Then behold, a hand touched me and shook me on my hands and knees. 11 And he said to me, “Daniel, you who are treasured, understand the words that I am about to tell you and stand at your place, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up trembling. 12 Then he said to me, “Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to your words. 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was standing in my way for twenty-one days; then behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia. 14 Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the latter days, because the vision pertains to the days still future.”
As we have stated multiple times, the best commentator of the Bible is the Bible itself. Any thought supported by the Bible will be supported throughout the Bible. We have seen that the Lord has a Divine Council from the very beginning of the Bible. We have also observed that some of the heavenly beings entrusted with ruling the nations acted against Yahweh. Daniel, in the 10th chapter, is one of the most explicit biblical depictions revealing the reality of spiritual princes (principalities) ruling the nations, or, biblically, ethnic groups.
Daniel has a troubling dream concerning the world, not just the Kingdom of Israel, but the Kingdoms of the World. The vision was so troubling that Daniel began to fast and pray, seeking a deeper understanding of it. For three weeks, Daniel fasted and prayed, and finally, the messenger from the Lord —an angel —showed up.
Prince of the kingdom of Persia – what are we to make of this prince? It’s really not that complicated. He is a ranking son of God, a ben-elohim set over the region of Persia. Iran was formerly referred to as Persia, and it is written that Persia will rise up against the nation of Israel in the last days. The United States and Israel have been able to make peace with almost all other Arab countries, but not with Iran. Iran has been engaged in a proxy war against the nation of Israel for decades now.
We also see from the text that the prince of Persia is more powerful than the messenger sent by the Lord God of Heaven’s Armies. This prince had to be aware of Daniel’s prayers and the importance of the vision. The vision was concerning the appointed time. On multiple occasions, when Jesus confronted demons, they asked Him, “Have you come to torment us before our time?”
Satan and his minions know they can’t stop the plan of Yahweh, just delay it.
Daniel 10:20-21 (NASB) Then he said, “Do you understand why I came to you? But I shall now return to fight against the prince of Persia; so I am leaving, and behold, the prince of Greece is about to come. 21 However, I will tell you what is recorded in the writing of truth. Yet there is no one who stands firmly with me against these forces except Michael, your prince.
What is the purpose of these fallen princes, the princes of Persia and Greece? They corrupt the governments, impacting legislation that is anti-Christian, degrading the morals of the society, opening folks up to be progressively influenced by demons. We focus on the present, but these fallen princes aim to corrupt future generations through small compromises today, affecting not just the children but also their children and grandchildren.
When Christ was born, the Roman Greco Empire was in power, and it was persecuting the Jews, God’s Chosen People. However, the persecution wasn’t like it had been in the past; it was a form of persecution by way of compromise. The statement, “The prince of Greece is about to come,” was prophetic regarding the kingdom that would be in power at the time of Christ’s birth.
Ephesians 6:10-13 (NKJV) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Examining the three falls of humanity—the garden, Genesis 6, and the Tower of Babel—alongside passages on the Divine Council (Deuteronomy 32, Psalms 82) and the hierarchy of angels (Daniel 10), provides fresh insight into Ephesians 6 and its relevance to spiritual warfare.
How does all this apply to Satan’s nefarious plan for young black men? Religions have a way of evolving. When the slaves were brought to Haiti, the West African polytheistic religions evolved into voodoo. When Voodoo arrived in New Orleans and encountered Catholicism, the two traditions syncretized, giving rise to Santeria. And today, we have the mixing of the West African polytheistic religions, Voodoo, Santeria, and supposed Christianity to birth what is referred to as Hoodoo.
Hoodoo, a practice rooted in the African displacement (slavery), is characterized by three key aspects: ancestor veneration, harnessing spiritual power in nature, and the application of practical magic. It’s a system of beliefs and practices centered on seeking justice and harnessing the power of nature for healing, protection, and personal well-being.
Hoodoo, an African American folk religion and practice, has a complex relationship with a false form of Christianity. It emerged from enslaved Africans’ blending of traditional African religious practices with Christianity, often in secret churches or “invisible churches” to preserve their cultural identity and resist oppression.
When we blend the Truth with any amount of lies, it is no longer the Truth!
1 Timothy 4:1-2 (NASB) But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, 2 by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron…
The Colonial Demonic Doctrine of Racism
Enslaved Africans were forcibly converted to a form of Christianity that was in no way actual Christianity upon arrival in North America. There was a massive issue with the Colonial view of Christianity. Instead of repenting from owning slaves and then freeing the slaves, those who condoned the practice recreated the Bible, referred to as the “Slave Bible.” The “Slave Bible” was a heavily edited version of the Bible published in London in 1807 for enslaved Africans, omitting passages that could encourage freedom.
Many of our churches, especially here in the South, are rooted generationally in a colonial view of Christianity that is entirely demonic. I’ve talked to multiple people who still believe the satanic lies concerning the curse of Cain, that skin color is a determining factor in who a person should marry, and that God’s Chosen People have blond hair and blue eyes. Now, racism isn’t a color thing; it is a pride thing, and it is prevalent in both the white church and the black church. The idea of a white are black church is asinine, insane, just unbiblical.
Much of the Bible was omitted in the “Slave Bible”, including passages about liberation and equality like the Exodus and Galatians 3:28. Meanwhile, verses urging obedience to masters, such as Ephesians 6:5, were retained and emphasized. I understand why the Lord condemned all who changed His Word to hell.
The goal of these edits was to prevent rebellion and use religion to support slavery by suggesting it was a divinely sanctioned condition. And religion is the most effective way to control people; it is the most potent form of mental bondage.
Many of these enslaved Africans integrated their traditional spiritual beliefs and practices into their understanding and practice of this extremely false form of Christianity, creating, in essence, a newly evolved false religion, one that attempted to mix the tenets of the Bible with the folklore of the West African polytheistic religion.
The enslaved Africans formed a secret church, an invisible church, where they would practice Hoodoo and blend it with Christian worship. These gatherings served as sites of resistance against slavery, offering a sense of community and identity.
Today, some Black Christians are attempting to reclaim their ancestral roots and incorporate their polytheistic West African religion into their Christian faith, aiming to decolonize their understanding of God and spirituality. This idea of blending faiths is known as Hoodoo. They view Hoodoo as a way to honor their ancestors and connect with their cultural traditions, all while maintaining a very false form of Christianity.
Some Hoodoo practitioners may incorporate Christian symbols, such as candles, Bibles, and holy water, while also invoking God, Jesus Christ, and the saints in their practices. Similarly, some Black churches incorporate elements of Hoodoo, such as ancestor veneration, into their worship services.
Here’s a more detailed look at each aspect of Hoodoo:
- Ancestor Veneration:
Hoodoo places great importance on honoring and seeking guidance from ancestors. These ancestors are revered as sources of strength, protection, and wisdom and are often invoked through rootwork and other spiritual practices.
Problem – The Bible unequivocally condemns necromancy as an abomination and prohibits any attempt to communicate with the dead. Practices like consulting mediums or spiritists, as described in Deuteronomy 18:10-12, are explicitly forbidden, with severe consequences outlined for those who engage in such practices. This includes the Catholic’s practice of praying to the Saints.
- Spiritual Power in Nature:
Nature itself is considered a source of spiritual power in Hoodoo. Plants, roots, minerals, and natural cures are seen as possessing real spiritual energies that can be tapped into for various purposes.
Problem – Trying to connect with the spiritual realm outside of the confines of scripture is witchcraft. There is but one supernatural power that Christians are permitted to acknowledge, and that is the power of the Holy Spirit and Fire.
Genesis 1:29 (NASB) “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you.
We see Genesis 1:29 cited by some to justify recreational marijuana use. Black culture has a long history with this form of sorcery, and yes, smoking weed, or the use of any THC product, is a form of sorcery.
- Practical Magic:
Hoodoo focuses on achieving real-world outcomes, not solely on worship or spiritual belief. Practitioners seek to draw love, maintain jobs, protect homes, gain justice, and remove obstacles using various tools and techniques of casting spells, using potions, and invoking spirits.
Problem – those who engage with witchcraft will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
The very essence of any form of witchcraft is an attempt to manipulate the spiritual realm to have an impact in the natural realm. I can understand why black folks, 160 years ago, in 1865, would engage in their native polytheistic religion to try to change their circumstance. They were presented with a very false and emphatically demonic apostate form of the Gospel. One that condoned not just slavery, but the destruction of the families involved.
More than 12.5 million Africans were traded between 1515 and the mid-19th Century. Some two million of the enslaved men, women, and children died en route to the Americas. Once they arrived, they were auctioned off like cattle and then selectively bred to manipulate the best characteristics into the next generation. What God created for Himself, the family, was perverted by the very root of all evil, greed.
Enslaved men were required to mate with hundreds of different women. These children were then indoctrinated with the “Slave Bible” and raised with the end goal of being auctioned off on an auction block. I know some of you are reading this and asking the question that ended 160 years ago: Why does it matter now?
We have mentioned Exodus 20:5 throughout ROB Hell. Empirically and throughout scripture, we see that children suffer the consequences of their previous generation’s sins. But the enslaved were sinned against. Generational trauma is as real as it gets. Parents with an entitled and victim mentality will pass those ideas down to their children and their children’s children, affecting the family line for up to 160 years or three to four generations. Every time the head of the house refuses to heal, and repentance is the first step to healing, the three- to four-generational iniquity starts over.
Let’s consider racism in many of our local churches, specifically what we would refer to as “White Churches.” When you see a church that proudly states they were founded in the 1800s. It may be that they were established, literally rooted in the very demonic white supremacist ideologies. If specific sin proclivities can follow a family line, you reckon doctrines of demons can follow a denomination as well as local congregations generationally? I know they can. I’ve spoken with multiple folks in varying churches that cling to racist doctrines rooted in an intentional twisting of scripture to justify their hate.
The Curse of Cain
Many of those who refuse to repent from their racism hold to a false and demonic narrative that the mark of Cain is dark skin. There is nothing in the Bible that suggests it is related to skin color; the idea that Cain was cursed with blackness—and that black people are cursed as well—was common from the 18th and into the 20th century. This interpretation of Cain’s mark was deployed to justify the slave trade, and some religious denominations in America used it to support segregation and the exclusion of African Americans from church leadership. This absolute demonic doctrine continues to be held to and spouted by some in the church today.
The Curse of Cannan
After the Great Flood, Noah became a farmer and planted a vineyard. He became drunk and lay naked in his tent. Ham, one of his sons, saw his father’s nakedness and told his brothers, Shem and Japheth. They, however, covered their father without looking at him.
Upon waking, Noah learned what Ham had done and cursed Canaan, Ham’s son, to be a servant of servants. I think it’s important to note that Cannan, Ham’s son, was the one cursed, and whatever the curse was, it followed Cannan’s descendants.
This passage has been widely misinterpreted throughout history. The “curse of Ham” came to be associated with the idea that Ham’s descendants were cursed to be enslaved. This interpretation was particularly used to justify the transatlantic slave trade and other forms of racial oppression.
The misuse of this passage to justify slavery and racism is a grave misinterpretation of the biblical text and has had devastating consequences. It is essential to understand that the Bible does not endorse slavery or racism.
There is much debate over what Cain and Cannan’s curse was. However, since Scripture isn’t explicitly clear, let’s move past the discussion and examine what Scripture actually says. Generationally speaking, our sins can affect our children, extending back up to 4 generations, or at least 160 years. What was happening in the United States in 1865 that could be affecting the current generation?
In 1865, the United States was a nation contending with the immediate aftermath of the American Civil War, as well as the pivotal events and policies that ushered in the Reconstruction era.
December 6th, 1865, the 13th Amendment would pass, abolishing slavery, but the oppression of black folks was far from over. As the federal troops pulled out of the South in 1877, a new era of segregation would begin under what is referred to as the Jim Crow laws.
The term “Jim Crow” originated from a blackface minstrel show character created by Thomas Dartmouth “Daddy” Rice in the 1830s. This character, depicted as a stereotypical, clumsy, and dim-witted enslaved person, became widely popular, and his name became synonymous with the system of racial segregation and discrimination that emerged in the American South after Reconstruction. The character’s name, “Jim Crow,” was adopted to represent the laws and customs that enforced racial hierarchy and inequality.
These laws, enacted primarily in the South, mandated racial segregation in various aspects of life, including public accommodations, transportation, and education. The laws were designed to maintain white dominance and restrict the rights and opportunities of African Americans.
These state and local statutes enforced racial segregation in the Southern and some border states of the United States from the late 19th century into the mid-20th century. These laws mandated racial segregation in public facilities, transportation, education, employment, and other aspects of life. The “separate but equal” doctrine, established by the Supreme Court in Plessy v. Ferguson (1896), was used to justify these laws, although the facilities provided for African Americans were rarely, if ever, truly equal to those for white people.
These laws created a system of systemic inequality that marginalized and oppressed African Americans for decades. The legacy of Jim Crow continues to affect social and economic disparities between racial groups. Jim Crow fostered a climate of racial violence and discrimination that persists in various forms today.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 effectively dismantled the legal structure of Jim Crow, but its legacy still affects society. Sixty years ago, just one and a half generations, as a nation, we systematically endorsed white supremacy laws.
Suppose sins we commit as well as sins committed against us affect us for up to four generations. In that case, you reckon these laws could still be affecting us today, causing a divide in the American church based on race and political affiliation?
Exodus 20:5-6 (NASB) inflicting the punishment of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing favor to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
I clearly see the generational sin of racism on both sides. A divide over skin color, culture, and even political affiliation has splintered His Bride, the Church, into a fractured form of what She is intended to be.
Pride is the very root of all sin. Pride blinded the Pharisees; they couldn’t see the Messiah standing right before them. Pride has blinded His Bride, the Church—generational rebellion and racism have been fixed tightly within the grips of those who refuse to repent, forgive, and reconcile.
Due to Adam and Eve’s rebellion, rebellion is born in the heart of us all. But the rebellion in the heart of young black men is especially strong. Their rebellion is rooted in generational necessity. However, I believe that out of this great oppression will rise great revivalists who will usher in the Last Days outpouring of the Holy Spirit. We are already seeing this with the voices of Phillip Anthony Mitchell and Marcus Rogers leading the way by preaching, demonstrating, and showing the Gospel of Jesus, “THE” Christ.
I believe that darkness, the entirety of those spiritual beings who rebelled against the Lord God Almighty, has waged generational war against young black men. From the depths of the West African polytheistic religions, the transatlantic slave trade, the Jim Crow Laws, to a culture that promotes addiction, violence, greed, the murder of the unborn, and sexual immorality, war has been waged to kill, steal, and destroy the purpose God has for these young men. But God… Just like God preserved Moses as Pharaoh slaughtered the male Hebrew boys, and as the Lord preserved the Messiah as Herod slaughtered the male babies in Bethlehem, out of this generational oppression, the Lord is raising up a remnant of young black revivalists to lead us into these last days outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
Let’s consider the massive disparity in the abortion rate between black women and other ethnic groups. Margaret Sanger was consumed and controlled by darkness; like Pharaoh and Herod, she executed a plan that is still murdering black babies at an alarming rate. The black population in the US is about 14%, but black women make up 38% of those who decide to murder their children in the womb.
Darkness has created subtle false gospels that many have fallen victim to. We see men like Billy Graham and Martin Luther King Jr being praised and admired as great Christian men, even Christian reformers, but their beliefs are far from authentic Christianity. We have spoken in detail about Billy Graham’s belief in universal salvation – universalism.
Universalism is the belief that everyone will be saved, that all religions lead to reconciliation with the creator, and that all people are inherently good. Many in the American Church hold to the doctrine of universal salvation, believing that all individuals will ultimately be saved and end up in heaven. Perhaps it is the thought of men and women living a life of eternal torment in hell that causes some to reject the teaching of Scripture on this issue. For some, it is an overemphasis on God’s love and compassion and the neglect of God’s righteousness and justice, which leads them to believe God will have mercy on every living soul. But the Scriptures teach that those who reject Jesus, “THE” Christ, will spend eternity in hell.
Historically, we know that Martin Luther King Jr did not believe in the virgin birth of Christ, the deity of Christ, or His resurrection. He rejected the fact that heaven and hell exist. These are the basic tenets of salvation, and without a heartfelt belief and ongoing outward confession of these beliefs, salvation isn’t possible. Yet many consider Martin Luther King Jr a devout Christian. Why does this matter, and what does it have to do with young black men?
2 Corinthians 11:3-4 (NASB) But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his trickery, your minds will be led astray from sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4 For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, this you tolerate very well!
Galatians 1:8-9 (NASB) But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! 9 As we have said before, even now I say again: if anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!
1 Timothy 4:1 (NASB) But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons.
On July 13, 2024, there was an assassination attempt on President Trump’s life. The bullet grazed his ear, leaving him with a minor wound. A few days later, the Republican National Convention started, and President Trump was there with his ear bandaged. Shortly after, we began to see a startling image of what was supposed to be Jesus spread across the internet. This other Jesus had a bandage on his ear.
After Trump’s felony conviction in New York on May 30, 2024, we began to see another alarming social media viral post. “Jesus was convicted in a sham trial, and I still follow him.” I didn’t capitalize “him” in that phrase on purpose. Because if your revelation of Jesus is so lacking that you can compare him to any man, especially President Trump, you are believing in another Jesus, not Jesus “THE” Christ.
Martin Luther King Jr., President Donald Trump, and Dr. Reverend Billy Graham, what do these men have to do with Satan’s Nefarious plan for young black men?
Christian Nationalism emerged generationally from Roman Greco-Roman ideologies that became prominent in many seminaries, which have since evolved into some of the world’s most liberal universities. Harvard, Princeton, and Yale were all founded as seminaries or under the guise of being Christian Universities.
Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and John Adams all held to the very demonic doctrine of deism. They knew the importance of having a Judeo-Christian worldview. Still, they rejected all supernatural aspects of the Bible, especially those pertaining to the virgin birth, deity, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, “THE” Christ.
Deism is the belief in a god, but not the God explicitly described in the Bible. Deists believe in a creator who is no longer personally involved in the affairs of mankind. From these satanic universities came men who would govern this nation and lead many of our churches that still exist today.
Generationally speaking, pride would rule these men, greed would fuel their passions, and corruption would define their lives. Deism aligns with the doctrine that holds the Gifts of the Holy Spirit ended with the death of the last Apostle, John the Revelator—the doctrine of cessationism. Without the work of the Holt Spirit, we are left with two streams that produce two distinct, diametrically opposed versions of the Gospel, both of which are false. One is rigid, legalistic, and lacks compassion; the other is welcoming, socially motivated, culturally inviting, and claims the Grace of God is an excuse to live in sin.
The Sethite View of Genesis 6
The real issue, especially in the American Church, is rooted in a doctrine referred to as the Sethite View. If our understanding of Spiritual Warfare is flawed, then we as warriors of the cross will go into battle with bad intel. We will be ill-equipped to engage with the enemy of the souls of mankind.
The “Sethite view” is an interpretation of Genesis 6:1-4 that suggests the “sons of God” were the righteous descendants of Seth, while the “daughters of humankind” were the ungodly women from the line of Cain. According to this view, the intermarriage between these two groups led to the wickedness and violence that prompted the Great Flood. Key proponents of this interpretation include figures like Augustine, Luther, and Calvin.
But this is not what the scripture says. As odd as it may seem, as far-fetched as it may appear, the passage explicitly states that the sons of God (the ben elohim, angelic beings) rebelled against God and His order and went after “strange flesh.” Ranking heavenly princes left the heavenly realm, took human women for themselves, and had offspring, referred to as the Nephilim.
The Sethite view is generational doctrinal warfare executed by darkness that has rendered most of the church powerless against the continual and unrelenting attack of the enemy. Ignoring an issue doesn’t make it go away. Not being aware of a problem doesn’t make the problem invalid. The American church is not just uninformed, but delusional, as it pertains to Spiritual Warfare. And at the root of this delusion is the demonic doctrine of the Sethite View.
There has been much debate, especially in the American Church, over whether a demon can influence a Christian or not. At the very root of this dangerous false doctrine, we find the Sethite View of Genesis 6.
Looking at the lives of the proponents of this view, we find some very controversial religious leaders. Augustine discounted the relevance of the Spiritual Gifts. Calvin promoted the heresy that a Christian could not, in any way, reject their salvation. Luther, after trying and failing to convert Jews, became extremely antisemitic. What do all these men, and for the most part the American Church, have in common? A rejection of the relevance and the work of the Holy Spirit.
The Bible comprises 66 books, written over 1,500 years, and authored by 40 different men. But it is not a collection of ancient books. The Bible is cohesive in its theme; it’s alive, powerful, and inerrant, and it always supports what it says. Let’s take a look at other passages in the New Testament that destroy the Sethite view of Genesis 6.
2 Peter 2:4-5 (NASB) For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, held for judgment; 5 and did not spare the ancient world, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly.
1 Peter 3:18-20 (NASB) For Christ also suffered for sins once for all time, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; 19 in which He also went and made proclamation to the spirits in prison, 20 who once were disobedient when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water.
Jude 1:6-7 (NASB) And angels who did not keep their own domain but abandoned their proper dwelling place, these He has kept in eternal restraints under darkness for the judgment of the great day, 7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these angels indulged in sexual perversion and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.
Why is this important, and what does it have to do with Satan’s Nefarious Plan for Young Black Men? Imagine Reese, Maliq, Ken, Grant, Quan, Amhad, or Zion coming to Short Creek looking for freedom from their demonic torment and being told, “You’re saved, you can’t be demonically tormented!” This is the answer most folks get. Why does the American Church respond this way? The American Church, for the most part, has rejected the necessity and relevance of God the Holy Spirit and His power. They believe and adhere to the demonic narrative that says God, the Holy Spirit, and His Gifts to the Church have ceased, or they function as they do. And the captives are left in captivity, the bruised and broken are left unhealed, the spiritually blind remain sightless, and the Gospel goes out in proclamation alone, devoid of demonstration.
Charlie Kirk
I’ve been trying to figure out how to wrap this chapter up for a few months. And then, on September 10th of 2025, a political activist, who I believe was an actual Christian, was assassinated. Charlie Kirk was a voice of reason, declaring family values, the sanctity of life in the womb, and asserting the fact that God created only two genders, male and female.
Charlie spent most of his time openly debating college students across this nation, eloquently addressing the issues plaguing society. Issues like a corrupt education system, the importance of young folks choosing a trade rather than a college degree, and the need for men to lead, protect, and serve their families spiritually, physically, and emotionally. He believed and asserted that masculinity wasn’t toxic, but the lack of masculinity was one of the most significant issues that has led to many of the issues we now see in American culture today.
Charlie was great at explaining the Gospel, declaring that Jesus is the Christ, the only way to reconcile with God. But Charlie was not operating as a preacher of the Gospel; he was a political figure who happened to be a Christian, not a Christian who engaged in politics.
As much as I admired him for his boldness in storming the gates of hell and declaring biblical truths to this generation on their turf, I take issue with some of his opinions.
The aftermath of his assassination really shed some light on the divide in the American Church.
Hell’s Propaganda Machine
As we have been following the Charlie Kirk assassination, we see two very different ways people perceive the life and future legacy of Charlie. On one end, Charlie is venerated as a saint, considered a Christian martyr, and compared to Christ Himself. We even see the phrase floating around Social Media – “We are Charlie!”
I’ve heard pastors that I closely follow make comments like this, “If your pastor didn’t address what happened to Charlie Kirk, you need to find yourself a new church!”
And then we see others calling Charlie a bigot, a racist, and a white supremacist.
I want to say that these widely varying opinions come from the world, but they do not. These are the opinions emerging from the American Church, being propagated from pulpits across the nation.
Charlie Kirk referred to George Floyd as a scumbag and supported Derek Chauvin’s use of force as he murdered George Floyd.
How is it that supposed Kingdom-minded folks are seeing the same life and legacy of Charlie Kirk so differently?
Martin Luther King Jr
As I’ve mentioned, Martin Luther King Jr denied the deity of Christ, the resurrection of Christ, the virgin birth, and rejected the literal existence of heaven or hell. However, Martin Luther King Jr. is considered a great Christian leader by most of the American Church.
How can a person who denied the fundamental tenets of the Gospel be considered a great Christian leader?
Dr Billy Graham
Billy Graham absolutely taught universalism, meaning he believed that good people, including good Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and other religions that deny that Jesus is the Christ, would go to heaven. Dr Graham called John Paul II the greatest religious leader of the modern world and one of the century’s greatest moral and spiritual leaders. All the way back to the mid-sixties, Catholics have considered following Islam a way to reconcile with God.
President Barack Obama
Barack Obama took a public stance to support same-sex marriage fully, and his administration took steps to advance LGBTQ+ rights and same-sex marriage. Also, during his administration, President Obama pursued healthcare reform, which I feel needed to be addressed.
Donald Trump
Man, how can I sum this fella up in a sentence or two? Many on the Right venerate President Trump as a Saint, the person who will fix all our nation’s problems. I personally agree with many of his policies, though I have a limited understanding of them. There are more YouTube prophecies about this fella than there are about Jesus “THE” Christ. We’ve all seen the pictures of Jesus floating around social media with a bandage on his ear. And heard statements like, “Jesus was convicted in a sham trial, and I still follow him!” I typically capitalize any pronoun for Jesus, but this capitalist Jesus isn’t the Jesus I serve; he is a different Jesus.
When the Church is devoid of the Power of the Holy Spirit, we are left to cling to men, to personalities, to corrupt politicians, rock star preachers, and false YouTube Prophets. Hell’s propaganda machine has divided the American Church primarily based on ethnicity and political affiliation, and left in the balance, a few generations ravenous for an encounter with something real – the tangible presence of the Almighty Holy Spirit.
Consider Jesus’s hand-picked disciples. At His arrest, they scattered like cowards. Even right before His ascension, they still didn’t understand the Kingdom of God.
Acts 1:6 (NASB) So, when they had come together, they began asking Him, saying, “Lord, is it at this time that You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?”
The disciples had just spent 40 days with the resurrected Jesus, listening to Him teach on the Kingdom of God, and they were still looking for Him to re-establish the physical throne of David and overthrow the Roman Empire. Without a supernatural encounter with the Holy Spirit, we can in no way comprehend the Kingdom of God. But Pentecost was ten days away, and everything for the men commissioned, elected, and anointed to turn the world upside down would have an encounter that would put their understanding in Kingdom perspective.
Without the manifest presence of the Holy Spirit revealing the Kingdom of God, we are left with Hell’s Propaganda machine, leaving us as Christians a choice to make: capitalist Jesus or Socialist Jesus. Devoid of the Holy Spirit, we end up idolizing men such as President Trump, President Obama, Charlie Kirk, Martin Luther King Jr., Billy Graham, a rock-star pastor, or even a false YouTube prophet.
Systematic Spiritual Racism
Systemic racism refers to the laws, policies, institutions, and cultural practices that are embedded throughout society and which collectively result in and support continued unfair advantages for white people and disadvantages for people of color.
